Giti Tire North American R&D Center Lands in Uniontown, OH

The new Giti Tire R&D Center for North America has found its home in Uniontown, OH, located just south of Akron, in a facility that contains both offices and workshop space.

A very highly experienced tire design and development team has been assembled at the center in the period of less than one year since its inception at its new location. The address of the Giti Tire North American R&D Center is 3755 Boettler Oaks Drive, Suite A, Uniontown, OH, 44685.

The new North American facility is one of five R&D centers for Giti Tire, a global tire manufacturer headquartered in Singapore, offering a complete range of tires and services to more than 100 countries.

The Ohio operation is responsible for Giti Tire’s product development needs in North America, development and application of advanced design technologies, testing support for North American programs, and technical and logistical support for marketing activities of Giti Tire USA and Giti Tire Canada.

“We are thrilled to be in our new facility and appreciate the warm welcome we’ve received from the local community,” said Hamid Aboutorabi, Director of the R&D center. “We look forward to taking advantage of the wealth of tire industry knowledge and resources in the Akron area and to helping our company bring best-in-class products to the North American market.”

According to Aboutorabi, the new center has conducted extensive benchmark testing of Giti Tire products sold in North America against competitors. He said tire design equipment and procedures are in operation, and the center has already developed original and modified tire designs for implementation into the North American product line.

A 25-year veteran of the tire industry, Aboutorabi holds a PhD in mechanical engineering and regularly participates in international tire conferences. He has extensive experience in the development and application of advanced modelling techniques in tire design across both OE and replacement markets.

Concurrent with the new North American center, Giti Tire also established an R&D center in Hannover, Germany. The company’s other R&D centers are located in the United Kingdom (based at the renowned MIRA facility), China and Indonesia. The company employs more than 600 R&D personnel.
